Kenneth A. Sutton, died peacefully surrounded by family on June 9, 2011. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late William E. Jr. and Thelma Sutton, he graduated Merrill Dobbins Technical High School and then served in the US Air Force, as a navigation repair technician, doing tours of duty in Guam and Thailand. Ken spent 18 years with Xerox Corporation in the Lehigh Valley area promoting business computing and distributed networking, as well as working as a project manager. A move to the San Francisco Bay area resulted in work for several Internet technology companies during a seven year stint on the West Coast. Upon a return to the East Coast to be closer to family, Ken began working on emergency communications systems with M/A-Com Wireless Systems in the Harrisburg area. The systems unit was acquired first by Tyco and then by Harris Corporation in 2009, where Ken was promoted to program manager for Harris Public Safety and Professional Communications.
Ken's broad range of interests and activities included watching motor sports, working on wildlife conservation projects and experimenting with digital photography. Ken provided continual and much appreciated computer and technical support for family and friends near and far. He also made friends from around the world through his involvement in foreign student home stay programs over the years. In addition, he was an avid DIY'r around the home, doing everything from hanging drywall to his own electrical and plumbing, as well as being the on-call resident mechanic. As a licensed HAM radio operator for over 40 years, he was an active member in the local HAM radio community where ever he lived.
Ken leaves behind his wife Meg; son, Brian and his wife Helen; daughter, Wendy and her husband Jason; his former wife, Carol, mother to Brian and Wendy; brother, William and his wife Dorothy; grandchildren, Cole, Evan and Luke, and nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas and Roger, and his sister, Barbara.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for the end of June. Interment with military honors will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in September.
