Mabel A. Allen a resident of Tucson since 1965 passed away peacefully on June 8, 2011.

She was born April 29, 1918 in Swanton, Ohio to Hazel B. and Carl M. Bryan and is survived by one of eight siblings, Myrna Vanarsdall of Toledo, Ohio. She is also survived by her two daughters, Susan (Robert) Coder and Nancy (David) Seckman; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mabel and her husband, Robert H. Allen were married for 53 years before his passing in 1992. In their life together she worked as a business secretary in Toledo and as an office assistant for the Chamber of Commerce in Phoenix before they settled in to their own jewelry store business in Swanton where she was the bookkeeper. Mabel was an avid reader and her extraordinary ability at crossword puzzles and other games kept her mind as sharp as a tack right up to the end of her days on earth. She was a great conversationalist and enjoyed the company of her family and many friends. Her wisdom and wit are her legacy to all she touched and this gift will be their guiding light forever.

A Memorial Service will be held at the ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel, 1050. N. Dodge Blvd., Tucson, AZ at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2011. Memorial contributions may be made to Carondelet Hospice and Palliative Care, 630 N. Alvernon, Suite 361,Tucson, AZ 85711.
