Son of Aaron and Isabella Kirk Himrod. William Himrod was part owner of the Chicago and Erie Stove Works and the Erie City Iron Works. He was one of the incorporators of the Erie Cemetery.
Mr Himrod provided a shelter for fugitive slaves and founded, at his own expense the Himrod Mission Sunday-School, to provide
Bible education to African Americans. He served as its supervisor until he died.
