Temperance Colt Pelton was the daughter of Jonathan and Elizabeth (Baker) Pelton. She moved with her family from Middlesex County, Connecticut to Oneida County, NY around 1798. She married Asa Andrews 16 Dec 1813 in New Hartford, CT. Asa and Temperance had 8 children: Sarah Elizabeth, Julia Ann (died at 12), Franklin Horton (died at 3), Emery Augustus, Franklin, a child who died at less than 2 years, Maria Lucia and Asa. Following Asa's death in 1830, Temperance married Hiram Elijah Caldwell, a widower in New Hartford about 1833. They moved to Granville, Bradford, PA about 1846. They were joined that year by Sarah & Albert Barnes. Maria Lucia came with the Barnes Family and married Benjamin F. Taylor in 1851. Franklin married Melissa Baldwin in 1856. Asa married Dorleska Kenyon in 1857. In 1870 Emery and Emily (Smith) Andrews moved from North Colebrook, CT to Powell. This completed the migration of the sons and daughters of Asa and Temperance to Bradford County.
When she died in 1879 Temperance was surrounded by two daughters, three sons, nine granddaughters and nine grandsons.
