MRS. JOHN ANTHONY OF NEAR KNOX CITY DIES SUDDENLY EARLY SATURDAY
Mrs. John Anthony of two and half miles northwest of Knox City, where she had lived six years, died at her home suddenly at 3 o'clock Saturday morning, Oct 10 1953 at the age of 53 years. Burial was in the Knox City Cemetery.
Mrs. Anthony is survived by her husband and seven children, one by a previous marriage, Donald Earl Selegrath of York, Pa., and six who are the children of Mr. Anthony, Jeraldine Constance, Mrs. Kenneth Casebier of Sunflower Kansas, Oran John Anthony of Bethel, Kansas, Merrell Lloyd Anthony of Topeka, Kansas, Clara Belle, Mrs. Richard Pulse of Canton, Mo, Betty Louise Mrs. Robert Shannon of Williamstown, Mo, and Ernest Anthony of the home. Also surviving are three step-children, Harold Ray Anthony, and Alta Mae, Mrs. Frank Clark of Fresno, Ca., and Lorina Fay, Mrs. William Clyde Ross, of Kansas City, Mo., a brother Carl Davis of Greencastle, Mo., three sisters, Mrs. Jake Mack of Kirksville, Mrs. Luther Boswell of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Mrs. Vern Nelson of Redondo Beach, Ca., and eleven grandchildren.
Mrs. Anthony was born Jan 10 1900 at Stahl, Mo., as Ethel Clara Davis, a daughter of James and Caroline Gates Davis. She married Mr. Anthony Aug 06 1923, at Kirksville. To them 10 children were born, four of whom Lavern James, Maxine Babe, Bonnie Marie, and Loran Benjamin Anthony who preceded their mother in death.
By the previous marriage two sons were born, Donald Earl Selegrath who survives and Robert Lee Selegrath who died last Mar 30.
