Funeral services were conducted March 3, at Chapman’s Mortuary by the Rev. Syl Adkins. Burial was in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers were George Henley, Adam Martin, W.O. Bradley, W. E. Day, H. E. Edwards, C. G. Strank, R. F. Helper and Harley Wells.
Born May 5, 1897, in Clifftop, Raleigh County, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Kathryn Malone McQuade. She was a member of the Baptist Temple and Mountain Laurel Lodge, Trainmen and Engineers’ Auxiliary.
Survivors include a daughter Mary Kathryn Lewis of Huntington; three sons, Harry Jr., Donald, and Thomas Elmore of Huntington all Hupco employees; three sisters, Dolly McQuade and Mary Surbaugh of Beckley and Kathleen Shumate of Charleston; two brothers, Cornelius and John McQuade of Beckley, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren .
