JAMES ALLEN IS DEAD AT 66

Lifelong Resident of Newcastle Tp. Dies at Albuquerque New Mexico

Funeral services for James D Allen, 66, liflelong resident of Newcastle tp., who died Saturday at Albuquerque New Mexico, will be held at the Disciple Church in Walhonding at 1 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. J.O. White in charge. Burial will be made in Walhonding. (note, IF he is buried in Walhonding, his stone is here, in Giffin cemetery)
Mr. Allen left Coshocton last Tuesday to visit his daughter, Mrs. Mayme Murdock in New Mexico. He had been in ill health for several months and died Saturday following a heart attack.
Born August 22, 1867, a son of Elias and Harriet Allen, he spent his entire life in Newcastle township following the occupation of farming. Mr. Allen was married Sept. 26, 1889 to Miss Keren Carpenter, who died two years ago.
Twelve children, Mrs. Nellie Croskey of Wooster, Mrs. Hattie Croskey of Osborne, Russell Allen of Newcastle, Mrs. Lovie Stringfellow of Brinkhaven, Mrs. Dema Phillips of Canton, Miss Mayme Allen of New Mexico, James Allen Jr of Walhonding, Mrs. Alice Mizer of Canton, George Allen of California, Lewis, Ruth and Morris Allen, all of Walhonding. Four sisters, three brothers, twenty six grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.
