St. John's Episcopal church in Hermosa Beach, California was the scene of the wedding on Saturday, August 20, 1949, of Miss Madeline Patricia Blake, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Churchill Blake of Hermosa Beach, and Charles Walter Brown, [nephew & adopted] son of Mrs. Arthur P. Nelson of Reno.
Best man was Dr. Duane L. Nelson, cousin of the bridegroom; ushers included John Brown, cousin of the bridegroom.
Mrs. Arthur P. Nelson, [aunt & adoptive] mother of the bridegroom wore beige lace with an orchid corsage. Mrs. Dale Whiddett, sister of the bridegroom from Reno, was gowned in powder blue. Attending the wedding from Reno were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur P. Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Whiddett and John Brown.
A reception was held in the spacious gardens of the uncle and aunt of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Wilbur in Mar Vista immediately following the ceremony, and the couple will honeymoon at Lake Tahoe. They will return to Los Angeles to make their home while Mr. Brown completes his work at the University of Southern California.
The bride is a native of Los Angeles and a graduate of Redondo junior high school. Mr. Brown is a graduate of the University of Nevada in the army air force. He is now a student at the USC dental college. His fraternity is Xi Psi Phi.
