A French novelist/poet, Mac Orlan was born Pierre Dumarchais and changed his name at the age of 20 when he moved to Paris. While he Paris he worked as a painter, journalist and traveler before turning to writing novels and poetry. Mac Orlan was senior member of the Goncourt Academy and a Commander in the Legion of Honor. He died at his home following a heart attack.
