Josef and lots of his Comrades never returned home because they were used by the Dutch to clean up land mines, not quite according to the Geneva Convention. On July 16 he had an accident, stepping on a S-mine. A few of his fellow prisoners should follow. German POW's called those missions "Himmelfahrtskommandos" (Ascension day Missions)
