U.S. Congressman. Graduating from the law department of Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., in 1894, he was admitted to the bar and commenced the practice of law in the courts of Nevada. In addition, he practiced law and was District Attorney of Eureka County, (1889-90). In 1907, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixtieth and Sixty-first Congresses, serving until 1911. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he was appointed judge of the second judicial district court of Nevada, serving (1918-20). He then practiced law and authored several books until his death at age 81.
