Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a First Sergeant in the US Army in Company H, 3d Delaware Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action at Weldon Railroad, Virginia on August 21, 1864. His citation reads "Capture of flag."
