BOGATA - Lizzie Opal Brodie, 100, of Paris died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, in Houston.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, in First Baptist Church of Bogata. Burial follows in Bogata Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
The family receives friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
She was born Oct. 18, 1906, in Royse City, the daughter of James Marshall and Eliza Ellen Bridgeman Barnes. She married John Ira Brodie March 10, 1929, in Bogata. He preceded her in death Feb. 23, 1992. She was also preceded in death by a son, Billy Ray Brodie.
She is survived by five sons, J.R. Brodie and wife, Mary, of Richmond, Bobby Earl Brodie and wife, Nora, of Livingston, Kenneth Brodie and wife, Dorethia, of Angleton, Grady Dean Brodie and wife, Lela, of Houston and Thomas Wayne Brodie of Dickinson; two daughters, Opal Yvonne Farrar and husband, Donald, of Houston and Eva Joyce Ponnequin and husband, John, of Paris; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Don Farrar Jr., John Dean Brodie, Justin Sessums, Randal Sessums, Darrell Miller and Scott Brodie.
