US Congressman. Elected to represent Alabama in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1904 to 1920. Also served as a Member of the Alabama State House of Representatives in 1896, Delegate to the Alabama State Constitutional Convention in 1901, Secretary of the State of Alabama from 1902 to 1904, and United States Senator from Alabama from 1920 to 1931.
