Son of
George W Carr [6th generation
descendant of immigrant ancestor
William Carr (b. 17 Jun 1597 in London)
who arrived at Plymouth on 7 Nov 1621
aboard the ship Fortune, joining his brother
George Carr (b. abt 1599 in London) who was
the first Carr in America, having arrived the
previous year aboard the Mayflower.]
  b. 16 Nov 1762 in Newport,
      Newport County, Rhode Island
  d. 1828 in New Hampshire
and
Mahala Dunbar
  b. 16 Jun 1766 in India
They married on 2 Apr 1798 in India,
and settled in Readfield, Maine in 1799.

There is no known record of Horatio G
Carr's middle name, however since his
father is George, perhaps the G is for
George. [A Carr family tradition is for
each generation to name a son George,
in honor of the first Carr in America,
Mayflower passenger George Carr.]

Horatio G Carr married on 25 Dec 1828
in Bangor, Penobscot County, Maine,
Diantha Lydia Peterson [identified as
Diantha Peterson in The Carr Family Records,
as Lydia in marriage, Census, death records],
both of Bangor,
by Greenleaf Greely, Minister of the Gospel.

[His younger brother George Carr had married Diantha's sister Mary Peterson on 4 May 1826.]

Horatio Carr lived on his farm in Dexter (see the 1850 Census Agriculture Schedule).

Horatio Carr died in 1850, found dead in the road, supposed of heart trouble, according to The Carr Family Records.
In a similar account, the newspaper Piscataquis Observer of 2 Jan 1851, page 6, states that on 27 Dec 1850, a Mr. Carr of Dexter was killed by the upsetting of his load in a snow drift, about two miles from Sangerville. Sangerville is about 10 miles north of Dexter. Winters are sometimes severely cold.

The newspaper account of the death of Mr. Carr of Dexter is consistent with The Carr Family Records account of the death of Horatio Carr. So it appears that the Mr. Carr of Dexter is indeed Horatio G Carr.
Although he lived in Dexter, the location described as two miles from Sangerville would establish place of death in Piscataquis County.
