BRENDA J. BABB, 69, died on Thursday, June 9, 2011. Born Sept. 6, 1941, in Deep Valley, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Kermit E. and Blanche G. (Duty) Gatrell. She was raised in Ohio and moved to Fort Wayne in 1968 with her husband and family. She retired from Lincoln National Life in 1991. She had been a resident at Covington Manor. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Ralph; two sons, Kevin (Linda) Babb of Fort Wayne and Scott Babb of North Manchester; daughter, Mrs. Daniel (Christine) Taylor of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne (Ellen) Gatrell of Fostoria, Ohio and Bret Gatrell of Carey, Ohio; and eight sisters, Mrs. Richard (Sonja) Zirger, Barbara Davis, Mrs. Michael (Connie) Gundlach, and Robyn Gatrell, all of Fostoria, Melvena Clink of Findley, Ohio, Mrs. Steve (Kathie) Balser of Scotia, N.Y., Mrs. Frank (Patricia) Green of Ocala, Fla., and Mrs. William (Jannice) Wilson of Johnstown, Ohio. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Philip Gatrell; and two sisters, Marlene D. Gatrell and Deanna Delph. Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Wayne Street Chapel, 420 W. Wayne St. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
