Mrs Mary Kibby, mother of County Tax Collector George W Kibby died last Friday at the residence of her son on Main Street at the advanced age of 77 years. She was a native of Australia and came to California in the pioneer days. She and her husband were among the first settlers of Merced, her husband dying about thirteen years ago. Four years ago Mrs Kibby was stricken with paralysis, since which time she has been almost helpless. The illness however that caused her death was only of a few weeks duration. Besides her son, George W Kibby, she leaves a daughter, Mrs Hattie Youd, and a son by her first husband, James McLean of this city.
