Deceased Name: Marilyn Joyce Rouse Goodrich
Marilyn Joyce Rouse Goodrich went home to be with her Lord Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008, in Edmond Medical Center after an illness of approximately two months.

Marilyn was born May 23, 1932, to Maurice and Maude Kelley Rouse in their home in Pleasant Valley, northwest of Coyle. She was a 1950 graduate of Coyle High School. On Nov. 14, 1950, she married David C. Goodrich of Guthrie, who was in the U.S. Army. Shortly after their marriage, he was sent to Korea. When he was discharged, they moved to Stillwater, where they established a home.

A few years later, Marilyn and David's life was blessed by the birth of a daughter, Brenda Joyce. Marilyn was a devoted wife and mother and an excellent homemaker. She enjoyed decorating their home as well as cooking and sharing recipes with family and friends.

She also had a special love for animals. Marilyn worked for a time as a businesswoman in Stillwater, managing the Classic Beauty Salon for six years and co-owning and managing the Red Carpet Real Estate firm with her husband for five years.

Marilyn, David and Brenda were active members of Zion Lutheran Church in Stillwater, where they lived for 40 years before moving to the Rouse homeplace in Pleasant Valley in 1991. Marilyn's church activities included teaching Sunday school and Vacation Bible School as well as participating in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML).

In 2007, Marilyn and David had new carpet installed in their church, Zion Lutheran of Guthrie, as a memorial to the Rouse family, all of whom had been active church members there.

Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, Maurice and Maude Kelley Rouse, of Pleasant Valley and her two sisters, who were twins and their husbands, Geraldine Rouse Thomas and Leon Thomas, Pleasant Valley, and Maxine Rouse Harman and Robert Harman, Guthrie.

She is survived by her husband, David, to whom she was married over 57 years; her daughter, Brenda Goodrich Nivens and her son-in-law, Gary Nivens, of Pleasant Valley.

She will be greatly missed by her family, her church family and her many other friends.

Services will be in Zion Lutheran Church, 424 E. Warner, Thursday at 10 a.m. The Rev. W.R. Rains, interim pastor of Zion and pastor of Faith Lutheran Church, Oklahoma City, will officiate. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Memorials may be made in the name of Marilyn Goodrich to Zion Lutheran Church, Guthrie, or to the organization of the donor's choice.
