From the Oneida Semi-Weekly Democratic Union Thursday October 8, 1892.

Died at her residence on Farnam Street October 1st Mrs Helen C Fairchild relict of the late Sydney T Fairchild, aged 82 years. For the past few weeks Mrs. F had not been in her usual health, but no fears were felt that she had so little time to stay with her friends. On Friday September 30th the Democracy extended their parade through the grounds of her late home, and was brought to a halt in front of the palatial residences, where upon the stoop set a transparency with the following sentence, composed by herself and was one of the last efforts of her useful life."Mrs. Fairchild greets the manly boys of the Charles S Fairchild club, and prays God to bless them. May they act well their part in this life and be in the world beyond. The band played the "Sweet by-and-by", little thinking at this time that the white-robed messenger was hovering so near, and that before the sun had once more set in the western horizon, that she would have crossed the silent river into the boundless eternity. The funeral was held from Saint Peter's Church on Tuesday at 8 p.m. and was largely attended, the business places being closed during the solemn services. A number of the friends of the family from the East and West were at the last sad rites. The remains were laid to rest by the side of her late husband in Evergreen Cemetery.

Many thanks! TB
