United States Congressman. A native of Oregon, Younger graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle in 1915. He afterwards served as the first Director of Athletics for the university from 1915 until 1916. With the coming of the First World War, he entered military service and served as a Captain in the Coastal Artillery Reserve Corps until 1919. After the war, he became a savings and loan executive and after moving to California in 1937, he was appointed Vice President of the Citizens Federal Savings & Loan Association in San Francisco. In 1953, he was elected to the United States House of Representatives representing California's 9th District until 1963 when, due to redistricting, he was elected to represent California's 11th District, a post he held until his death from leukemia in 1967.
