Mrs. Birty Viola Barnett, 95, of Rockcastle, died Saturday at Ravenswood Rest Home after a long illness. She was born in Leon, Mason County, daughter of the late Phillip Pickens and Adeline Stephens Pickens. She was a registered midwife, having delivered babies in Putnam, Mason and Jackson Counties for several years. She attended Lone Church at Rockcastle. She was the last surviving member of her generation in the family. Survivors include one son, Hoyt (Tom) Barnett of Sandyville and three daughters, Ina Kay of Ripley, Sallie Meadows of Buffalo and Loraine Stover of Given; three half brothers, Harve Cain of Michigan, Roy Cain of Leon and Hoyt Cain of Columbus, O.; 43 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, Camden Barnett preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Monday at Parsons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Vairl Winters officiating. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery at Ripley
