Thomas Marion McCall is my great great grandfather. His son Peter "Pete" McCall was my great grandfather. His daughter Elva McCall Farr Sinkhorn was my grandmother and her daughter Donna Farr Toles is my mother.

Thomas Marion McCall was born 26 October 1852 in Greenup Co. Kentucky. He was the son of John McCall (1809 - 1883) and Harriet Sophia Cohorn (1811-1853) from Scioto Co. Ohio. Thomas was the youngest of nine children (Sarah, Susannah, Elizabeth, John William, Mary W, Nancy, Peter, Harriet and Thomas). Thomas had an artifical eye due to being hit in the eye by a tree branch.

On 19 Sep 1871 Thomas married Mary Eliza Walters in Estill Co, Kentucky. Census report of 18 Jun 1880 shows that Thomas and Mary were living in Precinct 2 in Powell Co. Kentucky. Thomas was a farmer and Mary kept house. They had four children Mary "Mollie", John Thomas, Richard and Peter "Pete". They also had a boarder living with them Ruth Flynn.

Thomas and John McCall bought land near Cottage Furnace in Powell Co in 1872. In 1875 Thomas and Eliza sold this land.

I have been unable to locate a death date for Mary Eliza Walters but know it is before 1889. Thomas and Mary had 2 additional children before the 1890 census. Nancy "Nannie" and Charles Howard.

On 5 Dec 1889 Thomas married Elizabeth Chapman (1874-1894). Kentucky Census 1890 shows that he was married to Elizabeth and they were living in Precinct 8 in Carter Co. Kentucky. They had two children Floyd and Harriet before Elizabeth passed away in 1894.

Thomas worked as a farm labor until he bought 80 acres of land on Lulbegrud Creek in Powell Co in April 1890 for $230.

In 1891 he bought 100 acres on Black Creek Rd in Powell Co. from Thomas and Malinda Walters for $500.

In 1892 he sold the Lulbegrud property.

In March 1895 Thomas bought 80 acres on Lower Cane Creek Rd at the top of the mountain.

8 Jun 1900 Census shows that Thomas is now married to Laura Bell Johnson (1874-1925) and they have been married for four years. They have had two children Clayton and Carrie. Also living with them are Peter, Nancy, Charles and Floyd. Thomas and Laura own their farm and the older sons along with Thomas work the farm. Laura is keeping house.

In Dec 1905 Thomas sold 100 acres on Black Creek Rd. in Powell Co.

In Feb 1914 Thomas bought 302 acres on Hatchers Creek for $1100.

In Jan 1916 he sold 150 acres of the Hatchers Creek property to his son Floyd for $500.

In Feb 1917 Thomas sold the Lower Cane Creek property to Peter McCall for $600.

9 Jan 1920 Census shows that Thomas and Laura are living in District 3 of Powell Co. Kentucky. They own their farm. By this time Thomas and Laura have had an additional six children, so all their children are (Clayton, Sara, Carrie, William, James, Ethel, Albert and Goldia). As of 1920 the only children living at home on the farm are William, Ethel and Albert. Sara and Goldia are deceased.

18 Apr 1930 Thomas is now a widow and is living with his daughter Nannie King and her family on Hatchers Creek Rd in Powell Co. Kentucky. Thomas was not working. Nannies' husband Robert was a farmer. Robert and Nannies children living at home were Clay, Clemmie, Hazel and Gladys. Thomas's son Floyd lived next door on Hatchers Creek.

In Nov 1930 he gave 152 acres of the Hatchers Creek property to Mary "Mollie" and her husband Marion Martin for taking care of him in his last days of life and to insure proper burial.

8 Sep 1931 Thomas Marion McCall passed away, his death certificate states unknown cause. He passed away in the Jeffersonville Precinct of Mt.Sterling, Montgomery Co. Kentucky. Thomas is buried at Randall Cemetery (aka: Randall-French Cemetery) in Stanton, Powell Co. Kentucky. He is buried beside his third wife Laura Bell Johnson.

Thomas had 16 children with 3 wives.
