Thomas Treat, Jr., son of Lieutenant Thomas Treat, Sr., and Dorothy (Bulkeley) Treat, was born on May 3, 1699 in South Glastonbury, Hartford, Connecticut. He married Mary Hopson, orphaned daughter of John and Sarah (Northam) Hopson of Colchester, New London, Connecticut, on May 10, 1726 in Glastonbury.

Thomas received in the will of his father the homestead of the Treat Farm and 17 attached acres as well as 27 acres of meadow land inside the meadow fence. Thomas and Mary had 5 sons and 6 daughters. One daughter, Dorothy Treat, born June 18, 1731 is believed to be the first wife of Captain Stephen Goodrich (1732-1823). In South Glastonbury, Thomas died January 15, 1780 and Mary died December 24, 1786.
