Paul W. McCullough, 72, of 202 Dickson St., died at 6:57 a.m. today in the Jameson Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Mr. McCullough was born in Edinburg July 28, 1898 to the late Jackson Fayette and Amanda Ripple McCullough. He was a retired plant guard of the Mesta Machine Co.

He was a well-known player in his early years and played baseball under Casey Stengel, then with the Toledo Mudhens and, for a time, with the Washington Senators.

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Chester W. (Violet) Guyton of New Castle and Mrs. Lula Hites of Cleveland.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Franklin (Sank) Wilbur and Hadd McCullough.

Friends will be received at the J. Bradley McGonigle Memorial Home, 133 N. Beaver St., from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. A service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Raymond Graham of Wesley United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.
