U.S. Congressman. Graduating from Middlebury College Vermont, in 1811, he studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced practice law in Reading, Vermont, in 1814. Moving to New Hampshire, in 1817, he continued the practice of law, was a member of the New Hampshire State House of Representatives, (1820-25) and solicitor of Hillsborough County, (1823-25, 29-34). In 1825, he was elected as an Adams candidate to the Nineteenth and Twentieth Congresses, serving until 1829. Not a candidate for reelection, he was a member of the New Hampshire State Senate, in 1842 and chairman of the boards of bank and railroad commissioners, until his death at age 62.
