Leora was born on October 2, 1911 in Hyde Park, Utah to James Albert and Sarah Ann Trappett Daines. She was married to Carl Wallace Ashbaker in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 3, 1934, and the marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple on August 31, 1956. He preceded her in death on November 27, 1965.
Leora attended school in Cache County. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held numerous church positions including the Relief Society and Primary presidencies. She was also an Ogden Temple worker for many years. Leora's greatest happiness came from spending time with her two daughters, and her many friends and relatives.
Leora was loved by everyone who met her, she loved to do things for other people and was a wonderful role model for all, especially her daughters.
Mom will be missed by all who knew her and loved her. Those of us who must go on without her are all comforted in knowing that she will now be with her husband, parents, and all her brothers and sisters. We will also cherish the wonderful memories we have of her.
She was an avid quilter until arthritis made quilting impossible. She was also a skilled seamstress making her children's clothes when they were young. She loved to travel and made many trips with her family, including trips to Yellowstone, Bear Lake, Washington DC, southern California, Seattle, Canada, and Hawaii.
Leora worked full-time as a homemaker. She also worked at the Naval Base in Clearfield for a few years during World War II.
She is survived by her two daughters Joyce (Gene) Wahlstrom of Huntsville, Utah and Carleen Ashbaker of Layton, Utah, and by numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, including her twin brother and four sisters.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 6, 2007 at the Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
