Funeral services for Mr. Arnold Sells, 78, formerly of Oakley, were conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, September 10, 1999, at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home in Akron, OH, with Pastor William Moore officiating. Graveside services with military honors by the Livingston V.F.W. Post were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 1999, from Sells Family Cemetery in Monroe with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Sells, a minister, died Wednesday, September 8, 1999.

Born in Oakley, he was the son of the late Robert and Ova Sells. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James Sells, Forest Sells, and Andrew Sells; a sister, Nancy Ellen Hensley; and a grandson, Mark Andrew. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII serving in the European Theater, a member of Clark Mill Road Baptist Church, and was an ordained minister by the Maranatha Baptist Church of Akron, OH. He received two song writing awards from Billboard magazine and led a country band "Tennessee Slim and the Country Boys".

Survivors include his wife, Pat Sells; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Cindy Sells of Barberton; three daughters and two sons-in-law, "Big Girl" Linda Lucas, Akron, OH, "Little Girls" Lee Anne and James Grimes, Akron, OH, and Molly and Larry Saal, Lodi; a bother and sister-in-law, Barnie and Beulah Sells, Akron, OH; two sisters, Bonnie Kyle, Tennessee, and Chloe Conner, Akron, OH; eight grandchildren, Tracee, Lisa, Eddie, Heather, Ricky, Tommy, Philip, and Hannah; six great grandchildren, Rachel, Ricky, Daniel, Christian, Julia, and Rebekah; a special friend, "Banjo Man" Phil Bunch; and many other relatives and friends.
