Mr. William "Bill" Troop, 97, of Madisonville, KY died at 8:20 P.M. Friday, December 15, 2006, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

Born May 11, 1909 in Hopkins County, KY he was the son of Peter Sigler Troop and Frances Penelopie Simons Troop. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, William Thomas Troop and six sisters and five brothers.

Mr. Troop was a retired coal miner for Island Creek Coal Company and a member of the U.M.W.A. He was a member of Richland Baptist Church since 1942 and had been a Deacon there since 1943. He was also a former member of the Little Bethel Associaton Executive Board.

He is survived by his wife of 80 years, Lorene Johnson Troop and his caregivers, Don and Jo Nell Johnson and Harold and Annette Miller.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Lantrip and Bro. Jerry Easly officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons from the Richland Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday and on Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until the service at the funeral home.

Memorial gifts may take the form of donations to the Richland Baptist Church Building Fund, C/0 Kenneth Presley, 582 Clearview Drive, Madisonville, KY. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
