Mr. Francis Lamar "Bud" Wildes, Sr., 87, died early Saturday morning (June 11, 2011) at Baptist Village Retirement Communities following a short illness.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Waycross. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip McKinley Wildes and Alma Kinnon Wildes.

He was a retired yard conductor with the SCL Railroad and served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of Winona Park United Methodist Church, the Sojoiners of the Church and Frank C. Folks Lodge # 192 F&AM.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Wildes of Waycross; two daughters, Helen Wildes Yates (husband Jamie) of Savannah, Mary Beth Jeffords (husband Will) of Waycross; a son, Francis Lamar Wildes, Jr. (wife Betty) of Brunswick; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday (June 14, 2011) at Winona Park United Methodist Church.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.

The family will be receiving friends at Music Funeral Home Monday night from 6 until 8. The Sojoiners of the Church are requested to meet at the Church Tuesday at 10:40 a.m. to serve as honorary pallbearers.
