VI. James French Pendleton((6)) (William((5)), James((4)), James((3)), Henry((2)), Philip((1))), was a lawyer by profession; clerk of the County of Smyth, Va., from 1831 to '57-'58, then appointed by Gov. Henry A. Wise to succeed Col. Charles Morgan as Superintendent of the State Prison at Richmond, Va., with an interruption of two years; returning to the same employment and was there in 1868. Married Narcissa Cecil, daughter of Samuel Cecil, of Tazewell Co., Va. He had twelve sons and three daughters.
