Steve Andelt was born in Saline County on a farm southeast of Crete on December 26, 1877 and passed away at a hospital in Lincoln on April 10, 1948 at the age of 70 years, four months, and fourteen days.
He attended country school in his youth and later helped his parents on the farm.
He was married to Miss Emma Sedlacek on February 4, 1902, and they settled on a farm near Dorchester. To this union were born two sons, Steve and Wencel.
His wife passed away in 1937 and in 1939 Mr. Andelt moved to a farm west of Crete.
Both sons served in the Army in World War II. Steve passed away while in the service in October 1945 at a hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.
Mr. Andelt leaves to mourn his passing one son, Wencel.
Other survivors are five brothers, Joseph, Fred, Charles, John, and Edward and the sisters, Mrs. Millie Vitek, Mrs. Marie Gerner, and Mrs. Helen Tiser.
Those preceding him in death were his wife; son; his parents; three brothers, Frank, Anton, and Walter and three sisters, two in infancy and Mrs. Anna Belka.
Mr. Andelt was industrious and a good farmer, a good neighbor, and had many friends. He still lived on the farm but was retired and enjoying a well earned rest.
