Alma M. Simmons
Alma Marie Simmons, 91, of 151 Randolph St., Buckhannon, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at Center Ridge Nursing Home in North Ridgeville, Ohio.
Mrs. Simmons was born Nov. 20, 1910, at Alum Bridge, a daughter of the late Albert W. and Sarah Jane Wilfong Pickrell.
On Sept. 30, 1930, she married James Mason Simmons, who preceded her in death on March 21, 1969.
Surviving are two daughters, Elsie Flanagan, Oberlin, Ohio, and Anna Helen Headley, Charlotte, N.C.; seven sons, Albert Ray Simmons, Charlotte, N.C., Carl Simmons and Clinton Simmons, both of Lorain, Ohio, Delmer Simmons, Cannonsburg, Pa., James Simmons, Elyria, Ohio, John Simmons, Jacksonville, Fla., and Larry Simmons, Lorain, Ohio; 29 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Betty Marie Pickering and Ida Ellen Simmons; three brothers and three sisters.
She was a homemaker. She was a former member of Pythian Sisters of Buckhannon, Heavner Grove Extension Homemakers Club and Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. She attended Midway Baptist Church in Elyria, Ohio.
Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Sunday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Charles Keesee officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Union Church Cemetery.
