Nelson Clare Albaugh was born December 27, 1907 in Douglas, Wyoming the son of Ira C. and Emma Earnest. Later he was adopted by John and Mahalam Travis Albaugh. He was reared and educated in the Douglas school system and had attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, Colorado. He served in the United States Army as a medical technician.
While in High School he worked for the George Arnold Butcher Shop and later as a meat cutter for Safeway while he spent a summer in California. When he returned to Douglas, he printed and published a daily mimeograph paper called "The Reminder." Later he was appointed by D. L. Hunt to serve as cashier for the Wyoming Liquor Commission as well as traveling around in the state selling liquor for a distillery. He had operated a coin machine business in several counties before he and his brother-in-law purchased the College Inn Bar in Douglas which they operated for 31 years, before selling it in 1976 and retiring.
He was married on Novemeber 7, 1940 to Arlene Alora Jones and they resided in Douglas for over fifty years.
Mr. Albaugh was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, a charter member in the Moose Lodge #601, and a member of the Samuel Mares American Legion Post #8. He was also a member of the Wyoming Pioneer Association and a past member of the Douglas Community Club as well as being a 43-year member of the Senior Citizens Foundation in Douglas.
He was survived by his wife, Arlene; sister-in-law Marion Jones of Douglas; nephew Jeffrey P. Jones of Dans Point, California; a niece Patricia K. Missett of Carlsbad, California and three great nephews and one great niece all of California.
