Ruth was born Nov. 26, 1933, in Ozark, Ala., a daughter of Hurbert and Effie (Wright) Riley. She moved to New London in 1950 and had resided in Rochester since 1963.
Ruth worked for Newlon Metal Products in New London and Ballinoff Manufacturing in Shelby. She retired in 1993 from Kent Sporting Goods in New London. Ruth enjoyed cooking and traveling.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jerry L.; and a brother, Earl (Lois) Riley of Wellington.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Brainard and Susie Logan.
Funeral services will take place noon Monday, June 13, 2011, with visitation starting at 11 a.m., at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Wellington.
