Lewis D. Abbey, 64, of Columbiaville, died March 7, 1999, at Lapeer Regional Hospital.
He was born on November 4, 1934, in Columbiaville, to Edward and Abigail (Warren) Abbey.
A lifelong resident of Columbiaville, he served his country in the U.S. Air Force, from 1952 to 1956. He had been employed at Pontiac Motors until 1984.
Lewis is survived by sons, Dean Abbey of Columbiaville, David Reddington and Joel Abbey of Flint; daughter, Tracy Abbey formerly of Columbiaville; six grandchildren; sisters, Iva Barber of Columbiaville, Ethel Thompson of North Branch, Michigan, Mina Papke of Gagetown, Michigan, and Grace Shell of California. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gilbert and Eddie Abbey; and sister, Lucille Abbey.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday (today), March 10, 1999, at the Baird-Newton Funeral Home, Columbiaville. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Columbiaville.

"It was a great joy to know Uncle Lewie is in heaven, because just a month ago he gave his heart to the Lord. He saw his need to be forgiven of his sins. His mother and father showed him how to live for God. We give Lewie back to you, Lord, that he may be with you in your presence. We look forward to the time when we shall see him again in heaven."
