Mrs Blanche Karg Handford, 87 of Clarinda died Saturday morning at Bethesda Care Center where she had been a patient for two years and 9 months.

She was born June 3, 1891, at Pawnee, Nebr., the daughter of Sonville and Edith Burr Chappell.

Mrs Handford's home was at 301 E. Garfield before she entered the rest home.

Surviving children are Clifford Karg, Pleasant Hill, Mo., Henry Karg, New Market, Homer, Robert, and Harvey Karg of Clarinda, Mrs Orville (Juanita) Weaver, Welch, Okla., Mrs Thelma Snow, Independence, Mo., Mrs Dale (Edith) DeBord, Creston, Ia, Mrs Kyle (Lolabelle) Hughes, Clarinda. There are 25 grandchildren, and 41 great grandchildren. Sisters are Mrs Pearl Meyers, El Dorado Springs, Mo and Mrs Fred (Ethel) Fryer, Rockville, Mo.

She was preceded in death by a son Alvin Karg in 1974, three grandchildren and four brothers.

Funeral services were held this Monday afternoon at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home with Rev Ron Swedberg officiating. Grandsons were casket bearers. Karolyn Hughes and Pat Gant sang with Grace Perry organist.

Burial was in Memory Cemetery at New Market.
