Deceased Name: Richard Gerald Bosarge
Richard Gerald Bosarge, a former commercial fisherman and a retiree of the Mobile County Public School System, died May 1 at a nursing facility in Mobile.

He was a native of Bayou La Batre and a resident of Mobile.

In 1982, Bosarge, known affectionately as "Cap," retired from Alba High School in Bayou La Batre, where he taught marine industries.

A U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he was a longtime parishioner of St. Margaret Catholic Church in Bayou La Batre.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Hope Robertson Bosarge; two sons, Gerald Holt Bosarge and Patrick Langdon Bosarge Sr.; and one daughter, Ila Hamilton, all of Mobile; two sisters, Kathleen Zirlott of Bayou La Batre and Gloria Ladnier of Mobile; two brothers, Joseph Keith Bosarge of Daphne and Andrew "Buddy" Bosarge of Boynton Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is set for Saturday from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial Mass is celebrated at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Bayou La Batre. Ascension Funeral Service on Hillcrest Road is handling arrangements.
