John Shires, the old soldier whose remains were buried by Post McKittrick, G.A.R., was among the oldest of the post, being 81 years of age.

Headstones have been erected for the graves of Tobias Saulsbury, William H. Salsubry, JOHN SHIRES, John Couse, Edwin Williams, Daniel Bacon, Abner Hall, Clement Morris and John Duckett, deceased soldiers, the supervisor of the Town of Milton have certified to the necessity of the expense and the applicability under the act.
