Harley Merle Ascher was born on Monday; November 28, 1927 in Wellsburg; Grundy County, Iowa. He was the son of: John and Martha (Harms) Ascher and died June 4, 2011, at the Floyd Co. Memorial Hospital in Charles City. He received his education in the Nashua public schools graduating from Nashua High School in 1946. On June 6, 1948, he was united in marriage to Helen Swinton at the Methodist Church in Plainfield. They made their home and farmed near Pleasant Hill where they raised their family. He was a life long member of St. John's United Church of Christ, in Nashua, where he served on the church council and was a member of the Brotherhood.
