Hall of Fame Football Player. Born in Gainesville, Alabama, he was an NAIA All-American defensive tackle from Grambling State University, when he debuted with Kansas City Chiefs in 1963. From 1963 to 1975, played for the Kansas City Chiefs
and was on their AFL Championship teams in 1966 and 1969. Through the coarse of his career he played in 182 career games that included a string of 166 straight. He was six times selected to the AFL All-Star team (1964-69) and was selected to the All-Pro team in 1971. He was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 1987, the Pro Footall Hall of Fame in 1990 and is a member of the College Football Hall of Fames. He died of cancer at age 51 in Kansas City, Missouri and the Kansas City Chiefs posthumously retired his uniform number 86.
