The funeral for Dorothy Johnson, 77, of Devils Lake, formerly of Maddock and Oberon, was held at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Devils Lake. Interment was in the Vasa Cemetery, rural Esmond. She died Feb. 27, 2004 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. The Gilbertson Funeral Home of Devils Lake was in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Irene Treon was born Sept. 9, 1926 at Esmond to Orville "Jack" and Thea Djoseland Treon. She attended the Isabel School, rural Esmond, and the Oberon School. She worked for several years at the Griesen Cafe in Maddock.

She married Harold Roy Johnson Jan. 10, 1947 at Maddock. They established their home near Maddock and later moved to Oberon where she operated the Oberon Cafe for several years. They then moved to Devils Lake where they have lived more than 45 years. She worked at several restaurants including Grandma's Cafe, Colonial Hotel Cafe, Highway Host and the Two Spot Cafe. She also worked in the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store, The VFW Club and the Eagles Club. For many year she did general housecleaning and painting.

She enjoyed baking and decorating cakes, playing cards, sewing, canning and crafting. She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary where she was past president. She was also active in the Eagles Auxiliary where she was an officer and Auxiliary Mother. She also was honored with the Mrs. Eagle designation.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Lou Ann Johnson of Devils Lake; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Eloise and Marty Lucht of New Rockford, Ivy Johnson of Brooklyn Center, Minn., Ann and Willis Wheeler of Kenai, Alaska, Ardy and Glenn Salisbury of Devils Lake and Donna Browning of Hillsboro, Ore.; a brother and sister-in-law, Del and Joan Treon of Culver, Ore.; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Treon of Hillsboro, Ore., Elna Treon of Aloha, Ore. and Agnes Johnson of Devils Lake.; and two brothers-in-law, Leonard and Arthur Johnson of Esmond.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lorraine Anderson and Berniece Treon; and two brothers, Bud Treon and LeRoy Treon.
