"G Mulkey was town constable for the town of Johnson. Working with him was Leonard Page as deputy sheriff, and Amos H Wien was the justice of the peace.
April 1900 Constable Mulkey arrested to two Mexicans for fighting, a third interfered. In the fight he hit the man on the head with his pistol. Later the Mexican followed the Constable, pulling a knife he slashed the Constable around the head and breast before being killed by four shots the Constanble directed at him.
Described as 'efficient' the gentleman had only the rare issue with lawlessness in their jurisdictions."
