Youngest son of Augustus Pugin by his third wife, Jane Knill. Like his father he was an architect, working in partnership with his elder brother Edward until the latter's death in 1875. Age: 52.
'KSS' on the memorial indicates membership of the Knights of St. Sylvester, an honour conferred in recognition of some service rendered to the Catholic Church
"The members have no privileges beyond that of wearing a decoration which consists of a gold enamelled Maltese cross with the image of St. Sylvester on one side and the other the inscription: "1841 Gregorius XVI restituit." (The Catholic Encyclopaedia).
