Leroy Ross Bower was born in Bowerston, Harrison Co., and was the great, great, great grandson of the founder of the town, Barnhart Bower b. 1765 d. 1844. He joined the Navy in 1917 and was trained as a signalman. WW I ended before he was deployed. He married Leola Mae Koehler on 20 April 1920 and lived in Canton, Ohio until his death. He ended his working career as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Sugardale Provision Co.
