S.E. 'Ed' Clarkson, native Oklahoma resident, died Tuesday night of complications from leukemia. He was born September 12, 1909, attended Classen High School, and graduated from Cornell University. He served in World War II for four years with the 645th Tank Destroyer Battalion in the European Theatre. He received a Purple Heart and other honors for his service. He worked for Oklahoma Hardware Company for over 40 years, retiring as Vice President. After Mr. Clarkson's retirement, he volunteered weekly at Baptist Memorial Hospital. He also volunteered at Travelers Aid, where he was named Volunteer of the Year, also served on the Board of Directors at Travelers Aid.
Survived by wife, Rita of the home; children, Joan, Theresa, and Sam; three grandchildren, Matthew, Emily, and Sara. Services will be held Friday, at 2pm, at the St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral, with interment in Rose Hill Burial Park.
