Michael Charles Urbain was born on January 22, 1879 near Placid / Pleasant Grove, Iowa. He was the son of Quirin Urbain and Mary Kirby.

Michael married Mary E. Horsefield on August 20, 1912 at St. John's Catholic Church in Placid, Iowa. Michael and Mary had five children - Raymond Anthony, Dorothy, Earl Michael, Anna "Odeil", and Wilbert J. Urbain.

Michael and Mary farmed in Taylor Township of Dubuque County until they retired to Farley, Iowa.

Michael died on June 4, 1960 at Placid, Iowa.
