Mrs. Matilda Ender was Marquette University's first Dean of Women

And who am I? Louis Ender's widow. Born Matilda Steinbreacher on a farm in Manitowaoc County, Wisconsin, fourteenth child of my father, on children of my mother. Attended Oshkosh Teacher's College. Taught four years in Grade schools. Attended Marquette University. Taught six years at Milwaukee Vocational School. Spent two years in the Pathology Laboratory of Dr. Daniel Hopkinson, a noted pathologist, and Medico-legal authority: Professor of Pathology and Jurisprudence in both Dental and Medical Schools of Marquette University. After this practical training, the writer became instructor in Pathology and Histology in the Dental School of Marquette University, advancing to Assistant Professor in those departments during the eight years (1922-1930) spent there. Because the writer was the only full-time woman teacher in the university at that time, I was for two years adviser of girls. I was always happy in my work as a teacher - but never so happy as I was as the wife of Louis William Ender.
