Frederick Landis was a Private in the 4th Battalion, Chester County, Pennsylvania during the Revolutionary War. His burial location is not known.
Fredrick Landis
Although not one of the earlier arrivals the family of Fredrick Landis deserves mention here because of the prominence of some of his descendants. He was born in Germany on March 4, 1739 and came to Pennsylvania when about 10 years old. He was the youngest of ten brothers and was twice married. By the first marriage believed to be Maria Kolb, daughter of David Kolb, there was one son, Henry, who lived to be 74 years of age.
In 1763 Fredrick Landis took for his second wife Elizabeth Hock. They had eight children, three of them died in infancy. Those living were Phillip, Fredrick, Jacob, Nancy and Magdalen.
Philip Landis, born May 6, 1764, married Elizabeth Kurtz. They had eight children; Eliza, Jacob, Samuel, Phoebe, Joseph, Mary and Philip Kurtz.
Elizabeth Kurtz, the mother, died in 1808, and in 1812 Philip Landis took for his second wife Catherine Beary. They had three children; Sarah, Fredrick and Abram Hock.
Abram Hock Landis was born February 14, 1821. He left the following sons, each of whom attained prominence.
