B. B. Brown, an Edina druggist for more than forty years, best known as Bert Brown, died at his home here at 11 o'clock last night of heart disease at the age of nearly 69 years. He suffered a heart attack in his store July 16, since when he had been confined to his home, the greater part of the time in bed.

Funeral services will be at the home at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Burial will be in Linville cemetery by the grave of Mr. Brown's wife, with rites by the Masonic Lodge here, of which he had been a member many years.

Surviving Mr. Brown are a daughter and two sons: Miss Ruth Browne of Edina, who is a teacher at Kansas City and who was to arrive home about noon today; Edwin N. Browne of Quincy, a salesman for Meyer Bros wholesale druggists, and Madison C. Browne of Edina, connected with his father in the drug store.

Also surviving are a granddaughter, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin N. Browne, and 2 brothers and 2 half-brothers: Dr. J. C. Brown, Lewistown; Dr. C. A. Brown, Edina; Dr. Ed S. Brown, Edina, and John G. Brown, Helena, Mont.

Benjamin Bertrand Brown, the second son of Ed J. and Mary A. S. Cock Brown, was born at Birmingham, la., Nov. 7, 1863. He came with his parents to Edina in 1867, at which time his father purchased the drug store of Jesse Sherwood, at the location of the present store.

The elder Mr. Brown replaced the Sherwood building in 1879, with a three-story brick building furnished in walnut. He retired because of failing health in 1889, when B. B. Brown, who had clerked for his father, took charge with his brother, C. A. Brown.

The building and stock were destroyed by fire in 1891. During that year the present building was erected and B. B. Brown went into the drug business alone, continuously conducting it until his heart attack in July.

Mr. Brown married Clara Nelson of Edina July 3, 1889. To them were born four children, those mentioned as surviving, and B. B. Browne, Jr., who died in 1920. Mrs. Brown died Feb. 23, 1925.

Mr. Brown ,who was affectionately known as "Cap," "Dot" and "B B," received his early education in Edina and later attended Oaklawn College at Novelty.
