ROY – On February 26, 2010, our loving mother, Reta Johnson Roskelley passed away. Reta was born May 25, 1920, to Peter and Janet Nicholls Johnson, at the family home in College Ward, Utah. She was the 12th of 13 children. She was reared and educated in College Ward, Utah.

On October 17, 1938, she married Christian Jay Roskelley in Logan. The union was later sealed on May 12, 1959 in the Logan Temple. They lived in Smithfield and Ogden before settling in Roy.

Reta owned and operated Reta's Cake Shop and Enchanted Evening. Reta loved cooking, gardening, and quilting. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints attending Roy 3rd Ward. She served faithfully in many callings including a Senior mission in the Arkansas Little Rock Mission. She was an active member of the Utah Daughters of the Pioneers.

She is survived by five children; Joan (Max) Fowers, Hooper, Gerald (Dawna) Roskelley, Brigham City, Stephen (Lorriane) Roskelley, Downey, CA, David (Coralee) Roskelley, Clinton, and Janet (Tony) Judd, Fredonia, AZ. She is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, all 12 siblings, two sons, Christian Jay Jr. and Harold Paul Roskelley, two grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 5, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at the Roy 3rd Ward, 5930 South 2200 West, Roy, Utah. Friends and family may call on Thursday, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah, and on Friday from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church.

Interment in the Washington Heights Cemetery.
